And I'll still be there, watching him like a hawk. [ He hesitates, a hint of thought crossing his face. ] You planning to go out today?

[ Mouth twisting sardonically. ] No, I don't think I will.

[ The hand finally lowers from Phil's shoulder, some of the stiffness leaving. ]

Coffee?

Please. [ Smiling a little wryly. They're both entirely too predictable, in this. He can't bring himself to mind. ]

I'm on it. [ He shuffles by the coffee machine to brew it the old fashioned way, grabbing a couple of mugs. ]

[ Phil settles on the kitchen table, checking his network device again. It pays to keep on top of things, to be aware of what's going on. That's always been his end of the deal.

And if he stays close to Clint while doing so, well. No one can fault him for that. ]

[ Living in an apartment means that there's a better vantage point when checking out the windows, which he does around getting the coffee into the mugs, and when he goes to join him at the table, pushing a mug towards Phil, he perches on the chair so he can see. ]

Thank you, Clint. [ If he knows what Clint is doing, he doesn't comment, instead taking a long swallow of the coffee. ]

[ Not touching his own mug, Clint nods down at the device. ] Any sign of trouble?

No. Seems all right. More curses than usual, though.

It could be worse, at least we've avoided any major ones.

Let's hope it stays that way.

[ With a smirk. ] I don't know, it could be fun to watch you do something stupid.

You'd like that, wouldn't you. [ A beat. ] But what if you're the one doing something stupid?

Well, technically, and according to some people who's names I'm not mentioning, I do stupid shit all the time.

[ He's thinking so hard to come up with something he might consider stupid that it almost looks painful. ] Not seeing how anything that stupid could possibly exist.
